- Problem
- Sun spots, age spots, post-acne discoloration or an uneven complexion can make the skin look tired, patchy and less fresh.
- Solution
- LaseMD™ targets superficial pigmentation, brightens dark spots and refines the skin appearance.
- Sessions
- For a visibly more even complexion, we usually recommend 2–4 laser treatments spaced a few weeks apart, depending on your skin condition. First improvements can often be visible after just a few sessions.

How does a pigmentation spot treatment at AFACIAL work?
3 steps to an even, radiant complexion
-

Skin analysis & pigmentation assessment
Your AFACIAL skin specialist analyzes your skin type, current skin condition and the type of pigmentation. We also discuss whether LUMECCA is suitable for you or whether a dermatologist should be your first point of contact, for example, in the case of noticeable moles or stronger melasma.
-

Cleansing & LaseMD™ treatment
Your skin is thoroughly cleansed and optimally prepared. LaseMD™ then works with a gentle non-ablative thulium laser to target pigmentation in the skin and gradually brighten superficial dark spots.
-

Calming care, active ingredients & SPF
To finish, your skin receives soothing care and suitable active ingredients. Consistent sun protection is especially important to keep your skin protected and help prevent new pigmentation spots.

What is a pigmentation spot treatment and why is it worth it?
Pigmentation spots are darker areas of skin caused by an overproduction of melanin, often appearing on the face, hands or décolleté. They are usually harmless, but they can make the complexion look uneven, patchy or less fresh.
At AFACIAL, we treat superficial pigmentation with LaseMD™, a gentle non-ablative thulium laser. The treatment can visibly brighten sun spots, age spots, mild pigmentation changes and post-acne discoloration while helping refine the overall skin appearance. For noticeable, growing or unclear moles, as well as pronounced melasma, we always recommend getting checked by a dermatologist first.

Questions about pigmentation spot treatment: our expertise for your skin
How often should pigmentation spots be treated?
Usually, 2–4 laser treatments are recommended, depending on skin type, pigmentation depth and desired result. Mild pigmentation may respond faster, while sun-related or older spots often need several sessions. Your Afacialist will create an individual recommendation after the skin analysis.
When is the best time for a pigmentation spot treatment?
The best time is from autumn to spring, because the skin should not be exposed to strong sun before or after the treatment. Tanned or recently sun-exposed skin is not ideal for laser treatments. You should also use SPF 50 daily after the treatment.
Can pigmentation spots come back after the treatment?
Treated pigmentation spots can remain significantly lighter, but new spots can appear due to renewed UV exposure. Sun, tanning beds and lack of sun protection especially promote renewed hyperpigmentation. A scientific review shows that broad-spectrum sunscreen can play a supportive role in melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Can I treat pigmentation spots during pregnancy?
During pregnancy, we recommend waiting with laser-based treatments and focusing on especially gentle skincare first. Pregnancy-related pigmentation is hormonally influenced and can react unpredictably. We are happy to advise you on suitable, gentle alternatives.
Which pigmentation spots are suitable for treatment at AFACIAL?
Mild sun spots, age spots, dull uneven skin tone and superficial post-acne discoloration are well suited. Suspicious, growing, bleeding or unclear skin changes are not suitable. These should always be checked by a dermatologist before any cosmetic treatment.
